B2G VIDEO

B2G is a leadership and gang prevention/intervention program for boys and girls ages 8 – 16 years old and their parents.  B2G combines the strength of the community, neighborhood schools and the police department to create an effective and positive impact on the children in our program – thus creating a better community for all. B to G targets at hope children, offering a variety of educational and physical trainings.

OVERVIEW

Participants will establish group identity and cohesion through regularly scheduled meetings, extracurricular activities and fieldtrips. Students will also practice teamwork and teambuilding exercises. They will also listen to guest speakers and learn para-military drills.

 

Extracurricular activities and fieldtrips include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Sporting events

  • Educational Camps

  • Community involvement opportunities

STRUCTURE

Participants become members of the program and will receive a t-shirt after attending their 3rd meeting. Program is ongoing. Students will meet 2 to 3x per week in the fall at their individual school site. Additional weekend and special activities will be scheduled throughout the calendar year.

Keith Linton is an LAPD officer serving in Southeast Division since 2004. He is part of the Community Safety Partnership Program and has forged an active relationship with members and residents of Watts and its surrounding areas.

MEMBER LEVELS

Silver Level courses are presented in the fall August-December and will focus on raising awareness of identified issues. The information presented is introductory and will be built upon. The first level also includes the “Emerging B2G Member Essentials.”

 

 

Gold Level sessions are presented January-March and will focus on connecting awareness to local resources. Culminating activity will include a meet and greet with a local senior center.

 

 

Platinum Level sessions are presented April-July and focus on demonstration of skills learned. Core activity for this level includes a Gala where participants will be recognized for their commitment to becoming a true gentleman.
